Goldman Sachs analyst Rod Hall today published a new investor note in which he gives Apple shares a neutral rating as we move into the second fiscal quarter of the year. Hall says that Apple faces a “not so super cycle” amid “weakening” iPhone X demand… Investors have thrown around the “super cycle” term since last year, proclaiming a multitude of times that Apple’s iPhone sales would hit “super cycle” rates thanks to the iPhone X....

A report by The Elec from early today claims Apple will introduce an under-display Face ID sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023. DSCC analyst Ross Young, who has a great record of Apple leaks over the past months, contradicts the report and says the technology could land on iPhone 16 at the earliest. Rumors about under-screen Face ID have been surfacing the web for a while. For the iPhone 14 Pro, for example, Apple will be able to add some sensors under the display and change the notch to a hole punch + pill cutout....

Netflix cancels Tuca & Bertie after one season. Created by Lisa Hanawalt, the adult animated sitcom stars comedians Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong in voice roles. Tuca & Bertie season 1 premiered last May, and currently holds a 100 percent Tomatometer score at Rotten Tomatoes. In Tuca & Bertie, Haddish and Wong play bird women trying to balance their personal and professional lives. As the toucan Tuca, Haddish is sassy and upfront, whereas Wong’s songbird Roberta “Bertie” Songthrush is more reserved....

Superhero fans were delighted when Marvel cast Michelle Pfeiffer for the part of Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man & the Wasp; she’s a classic actress, and particularly well remembered for her stunning portrayal of Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns. In an exclusive interview, Gerard Butler has compared the tone of forthcoming action sequel Angel Has Fallen to Logan. Olympus Has Fallen was a throwback to the eighties style of action movie, featuring a foul-mouthed hero, snappy one-liners and a high bodycount. It wasn’t terribly sophisticated entertainment, but thanks to the slick direction and a cast that was better than the material deserved – including Aaron Eckhart, Melissa Leo and Morgan Freeman – it went on to become a sleeper hit....

Gerard Butler’s action sequel Angel Has Fallen has secured a summer 2019 release date. The ‘Has Fallen’ franchise has proved surprisingly robust, and launched in 2013 with Olympus Has Fallen. The movie was one of two competing White House under siege blockbusters of that year, but Olympus Has Fallen’s R-rated violence and b-movie thrills proved much more popular than Channing Tatum’s White House Down, which ultimately failed at the box office....

A furious fan has destroyed his PlayStation 4 in protest of Sony’s promotion of Genshin Impact at Chinese gaming expo ChinaJoy. The game was first revealed for PC and smartphones at E3, but it was only recently announced that Genshin Impact is coming to PS4 as well. Genshin Impact and its developer MiHoYo have been under siege by angry commentators ever since the game was first shown. Genshin Impact is overtly inspired by Nintendo’s masterpiece The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which launched on Switch and Wii U only two years ago....

American Gods has been renewed for season 3, though only the gods themselves know when fans of the beleaguered series might expect to see it. Barclays really seems to think that Apple will struggle to persuade people to pay $1000+ for the iPhone 8. After last week making the far-fetched claim that the price is so high it would persuade iPhone owners to switch to Samsung, it’s now suggesting Apple might need to bribe people to buy the phone … Business Insider reported on the latest out-there suggestion. Movies about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, it’s fair to say, have something of a mixed record. PCMag is out today with its annual mobile networks report. The report tests the four biggest networks in the United States to find out which one is actually the fastest carrier. This year’s results show a tight race for the first three spots, and a distant fourth place. Over the past 10 years, the results of PCMag’s annual test has flip-flopped between Verizon and AT&T. This year, AT&T has come out on top, earning an overall score of 97, compared to Verizon at 94, T-Mobile at 91, and Sprint at 82....
