Marvel Studios kicked off their San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel with a surprise, announcing Michelle Pfeiffer has been cast as Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man & the Wasp. While all eyes are currently on a number of upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe releases, the follow up to Ant-Man has taken a back seat in the news. Marvel has still been developing the follow-up, though, and has seen a few cast members added in recent weeks....

Speculation continues to ramp up around the 2020 iPhone lineup, including the so-called iPhone SE 2 and the iPhone 12. Rosenblatt Securities is out with a new investor note detailing its expectations on those new devices, as well as Apple’s production plans for the iPhone 11 until then. Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang says that Apple is in the process of cutting iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max production by as much as 25% for the December and March quarters....
We obviously expect Apple to announce its new iPhone 11 lineup next month, as it has hosted a September iPhone media event every year since 2012. An analyst at Wedbush today reports that his latest checks indicate that all three new iPhone 11 models will also be released in September too, successors to the iPhone XS and iPhone XR lines. According to the latest reports, we are expecting the new XR to be called ‘iPhone 11’ and the XS and XS Max replacements to be named ‘iPhone 11 Pro’....
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has re-affirmed his January claims regarding Apple’s 2013 iPhone roadmap, as noted by MacRumors. As he previously said, Kuo expects Apple to release both an iPhone 5S and a lower-cost iPhone later this year. Kuo adds that the launch is expected to occur this July after an announcement in June alongside iOS 7. The “iPhone 5S,” following in the footsteps of the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, is expected to retain the new design of the iPhone 5, but it will add a smaller, faster processor (presumably an “A7″ chip”), an improved LED “SmartFlash” sensor on the back, and a tweaked camera sensor....

In recent years, he has been very critical of Apple not supporting the RCS standard to make iOS messaging more interoperable with Android, and the latest salvo on iMessage is the harshest yet. While many early iPhone and iPad prototypes were revealed for the first time during the Apple vs. Samsung trial last year, today Ars Technica got its hands on some photos of an extremely early iPhone prototype that had not yet evolved into the iPhone form factor we know today. The new iPad Pro is out today, and ArsTechnica has a deep dive look at the iPad Pro A12X chip with the help of Apple’s Anand Shimpi and Phil Schiller. Shimpi founded the hardware review website AnandTech before being hired to work on chips at Apple in 2014. Captain America originally had a hilarious cameo in Ant-Man and The Wasp. Marvel Studios’ 2018 slate is already complete now that the sequel to Ant-Man is in theaters. Much like the first film, the sequel largely stands on its own. There’s references to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe of course, but this time director Peyton Reed and his team didn’t work in any surprise cameos. In the first film, Anthony Mackie reprised his role as Falcon to tie everything together....
