Apple earlier this month unveiled its new ARKit developer platform for building augmented reality applications for iPhone and iPad. Echoing previous reports, UBS analyst Steven Milunovich issued an investor note today in which he claims Apple will release a pair of smart glasses, perhaps called “iGlass.” The note, obtained by CNBC, explains that the advanced sensors and technologies for augmented reality will first appear in the iPhone but could eventually make their way to glasses....

The implications of the FBI forcing Apple to create a compromised version of iOS to break into an iPhone could be profound, argues Lavabit – an encrypted email company that closed its service rather than comply with an FBI demand to hand over its encryption key.
