Ryan Murphy has announced the casting of a major role in Season 8 of American Horror Story, now formally titled Apocalypse. Australian actor Cody Fern will be playing the part of Michael Langdon, and longtime fans of the show will recognise the name and what it might mean for the characters who come up against him. Basically, viewers will finally learn what happened to the Devil Child who was introduced in Murder House, and ended the very first season of the show in the company of Constance Langdon (Jessica Lange)....

Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort is circling and is expected to star in Fox 2000’s upcoming musical fantasy about the collective works of Hans Christian Andersen. The currently untitled project is described as being a fantasy adventure in which Andersen becomes trapped in a world of his own imagination, as opposed to a traditional movie biopic. Fox sees the film as a potential franchise starter in the vein of Harry Potter, with a Broadway stage musical adaptation being a possibility down the road....

There are plenty of bad people in American Horror Story, but in terms of being outright villainous, there’s a thin line. Some of the show’s characters are murderers, some are demons, and some are just down on their luck people who end up making life-altering choices. But seeing as AHS is all about the darkness, it’s no wonder that antagonists would reign supreme. We’re less than a month away from the launch of Apple TV+, and new data from Piper Jaffray indicates that Netflix still has a strong hold on the market. According to a survey conducted by the firm, Apple TV+ and Disney+ haven’t yet won over many Netflix subscribers. In a new investor note today, Piper Jaffray stated that its surveys show that roughly 75 percent of Netflix subscribers do not intend to subscribe to either Apple TV+ or Disney+ (via CNBC)....

After months of teasing, Angry Birds Transformers is now available in select parts of the world. Gamers in New Zealand and Finland can now sample Rovio’s mashup of fowl and robots, with Canada and Australia set to follow soon afterwards. In addition to a soft launch for its new title, Rovio released a new gameplay trailer, revealing that this won’t be your typical Angry Birds title. Instead of the standard slingshot-powered shenanigans, Angry Birds Transformers is a 2D side-scrolling shoot ’em up game where feathery Autobirds blast their way through several background enemies, including Deceptihogs....

There’s currently a push from fans of the bloody manga/anime Berserk to have the producer Adi Shankar take on Berserk for Netflix. Shankar recently made a name for himself in the anime world with his recent work bringing a stylishly reimagined Castlevania to Netflix and current mission to bring an animated Devil May Cry to the platform. The recent trio of films and the anime series revival that ran from 2016-2017 left many people dreaming of a fresh take on the Kentaro Muira’s dark material....

American Express has published a new web page explaining the benefits of Apple Pay to cardholders and providing directions on how to setup the payment system, which won’t actually be available until next week. The page also points out that American Express cardholders will be able to get the same rewards and other perks that usually come with a credit card when using the card through Apple Pay. The page says that customers will have a “seamless connection” to the American Express app and lists a few stores where NFC payments will be accepted....

A couple of days after Fortune did its roundup of analyst estimates of iPhone sales, it has now done the same for the iPad, with the average forecast coming out at 25M sales in the final quarter of last year (Apple fiscal Q1) – up 10 percent from the previous year. iPads were a more challenging market to forecast, observes Fortune‘s Philip Elmer-Dewitt: The full story of the success of the new iPad Mini in particular will likely not be known until the end of the next quarter....

After a soft launch previously, Angry Birds Evolution, a new turn-based RPG combat game from Rovio, is officially launching in the U.S. and globally today. The game is the latest in the popular Angry Birds franchise and, in addition to introducing a new type of gameplay for the birds, is the first title for the game made specifically for adults. As Rovio notes, that means “naughty humor, pop culture references galore and classic turn-based RPG combat....

Ubiquiti Labs is out today with its latest mesh router system. After releasing AmpliFi Instant (review), AmpliFi HD Gamer’s Edition looks to provide a high performing, low latency connection in collaboration with NVIDIA, particularly when multiple devices are on a network. In a press release, Ubiquiti detailed the new AmpliFi HD Gamer’s Edition, which is based on its popular AmpliFi HD mesh router system. Unique to the Gamer’s Edition is an NVIDIA GeForce NOW QoS mode....

The 1997 giant snake horror film Anaconda is receiving a new reboot, courtesy of Columbia Pictures. Anaconda was not well received by critics when it came out in April of 1997 and was nominated for six Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, though it failed to win any of them, and the film currently holds a 40% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It did open at the top of the box office and spend two weeks there, generating $136....

TomTom, one of Apple’s main partners providing data in its new Maps app, could be acquired by Apple, according to report from Netherlands-based Rabobank analyst Hans Slob. Bloomberg covered the analyst’s research report released early today, noting that Slob said there is a 30 percent chance Apple seeks to takeover TomTom in trying to make quicker improvements to its controversial new Maps app: TomTom NV (TOM2), the Dutch supplier of navigation applications for Apple Inc....
