Ant-Man & The Wasp is apparently nearing the end of its production now that a crew wrap party was held. The Marvel Cinematic Universe brought its tiniest hero to the big screen in 2015 with Ant-Man. The movie introduced Paul Rudd’s low-level criminal Scott Lang and delivered another lighthearted Marvel film that including references to Avengers: Age of Ultron and a brief appearance from Anthony Mackie’s Falcon.

The movie didn’t light up the box office like The Avengers, but it performed well enough to earn an expanded sequel in Marvel Studio’s Phase 3 plans. That sequel gives Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne a chance to suit up as the Wasp, and promises to introduce Hope’s mother Janet by bringing in the great Michelle Pfeiffer.

Ant-Man & The Wasp has been filming since late summer and has moved through its production without any major surprises – either in terms of creative shake-ups or by revealing too much about the upcoming sequels’ plot specifics. Things appear to have gone well for returning director Peyton Reed, as well as for his cast and crew, evidenced by proof of the film’s wrap party appearing on social media. Two crew members from the sequel posted on Instagram confirming the wrap party, but that doesn’t mean filming itself is done.

Wrap parties are typically held a week or so before production officially wraps, or if the movie finishes filming in a specific location. In this case, the crew’s social media posts are likely an indication that production on the film itself will wrap shortly. Lilly stated back in September the production was nearing the halfway point, stating she was on day 34 of 78, so it’s a good bet that the production on Ant-Man &  The Wasp is either done or very close to it.

The end of production is good news for the cast and crew of the film, as the movie will likely soon be headed into an extensive post-production schedule to deal with the heavy special effects work needed. While that’s going on, fans will have to satisfy themselves with the inevitable behind-the-scenes images that will be released in the lead-up to the film’s first trailer. With production finishing up, hopefully Marvel will soon see fit to provide audiences with a glimpse of Pfeiffer’s character, as well as the other new and returning cast members.
