New set photos from Ant-Man and the Wasp emerge online, teasing a flashback sequence featuring Hank Pym and his wife, Janet van Dyne. While Marvel Studios is busy promoting Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther, the company is also still hard a work with their other projects that are still production, including the Ant-Man sequel. The film will see the return of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang as the current iteration of the shrinking hero, as well as the introduction of the new Wasp with Evangeline Lily’s Hope van Dyne taking over the suit that her mother initially wore.

It’s still unclear what specific narrative path the film will tread, but the official synopsis for Ant-Man and the Wasp hints at once again a more grounded story, similar to the first film. Word has it that the team’s mission at hand is to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the original Wasp’s disappearance in the Quantum Realm, which makes sense seeing that Michelle Pfeiffer makes her grand return to comic book films as Janet Van Dyne.

The on-set snaps have come courtesy of Daily Mail UK and see both Michael Douglas and Pfeiffer sporting ’80s ensembles. While it is difficult to gauge just what they are up to in the photos, it appears like the two are portraying what would be the normal day-to-day life of the superhero tag-team. The scene will most likely use the same de-aging technology that Marvel Studios has developed a penchant for over the years, as evidenced by Douglas sporting motion-capture dots on his face during filming.

Flashbacks for the sequel are not surprising. In fact, we’re actually expecting a couple of them thanks to several casting calls that hint on the idea. Additionally, a trip down memory lane fits the film’s narrative, given that we presume that it will deal with the original Wasp being trapped in the Quantum Realm, and possibly her triumphant return to the real world. But aside from seeing the original superhero duo deployed on missions (like in the first film), the photos seem to point out that we will get to know Hank and Janet’s lifestyle before the latter made the self-sacrifice that led to many people believing she is dead.

As the old and new versions of MCU’s first-ever superhero tag team round up Ant-Man & The Wasp’s principal cast, several more game players are expected to appear in the sequel including the familiar faces of Judy Greer as Maggie, Scott’s former wife, Michael Pena as the fan-favorite Luis and Abby Ryder Fortson as Cassie, Scott’s daughter. Meanwhile, newcomers like Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo are also onboard the Peyton Reed-directed project.
