Star Wars fans will receive at least one more video game after the upcoming Jedi: Fallen Order, according to off-hand remarks made by EA executives. Scheduled for release on November 15th, 2019, Jedi: Fallen Order sees players taking on the role of Cal Kestis, one of the last surviving Jedi after the events following Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, as he attempts to survive extermination at the hands of the Empire.

Featuring appearances by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Saw Gerrera (played once again by Forest Whitaker) and iconic Star Wars locations such as Kashyyyk, Jedi: Fallen Order looks to be one of the best Star Wars games in recent years. Previously, the game’s developers at Respawn Entertainment even spoke of how important it was to get both the look and feel of Star Wars right while also creating entertaining gameplay, likening the combat of Fallen Order to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Now, it’s beginning to look like players will have another Star Wars title to look forward to once Jedi: Fallen Order releases next month. As reported by Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, and relayed via Twitter below, a new Star Wars title is in development at EA and “should drop” prior to the end of 2022’s fiscal year.

Ahmad later clarified his statement, saying “the above was given somewhat off hand.” Although there isn’t much concrete proof of what a new Star Wars game could entail, perhaps the push of the Battlefield series to after April 2021 is because the company is currently busy on an upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 3. Or, with BioWare not releasing their next Dragon Age title until 2022, maybe they are busy working on some sort of Knights of the Old Republic-style project. Or perhaps, like Jedi: Fallen Order, the next Star Wars game will be something entirely new.

Judging from EA’s above predictions for their 2021 fiscal year, the company definitely has multiple projects and ideas in the works which they aren’t quite ready to talk about in public yet. The statement about wanting to add at least one more annual sports title per year is especially telling, considering yesterday’s college football ruling which could see EA’s NCAA Football franchise returning to store shelves for the first time since 2013. Whether this supposed upcoming Star Wars game is a tie-in project with one of the many Disney+ Star Wars shows, a sequel to a previous video game franchise, or something completely new, one thing is almost definitely certain: it won’t be about podracing.
