Anyone can play the turnip market, but you have a distinct advantage at it if you have friends you can visit. Read on to fight out how to get in on the action.

How to Buy Turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Each Sunday morning, you’ll have a not-so-surprise visitor come to your island: the adorable boar Daisy Mae, who has taken over Joan’s turnip selling business.

You will only be able to buy turnips from Daisy Mae from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, so be ready.

You’ll be able to buy as many turnips as you can afford from Daisy Mae, and those turnips will be sellable until she comes back to down. This means you have only one week to sell your turnips!

Daisy Mae sells turnips at different prices each week, you just have to accept the initial cost and hope you can find a higher sale price through the week.

If you still have your turnips the Sunday after you bought them, they will go bad and be unsellable.

Make sure you remember how much you bought your turnips for. I personally write the price down.

How to Sell Turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Tommy and Timmy are more than happy to buy your turnips at a range of prices, from double to triple digits. This is why you need to remember the original price or your turnips.

There will be two prices for your turnips each day at Nook’s Cranny — prices will be different between a.m. and p.m. so you should check in the morning and later in the day.

Don’t get discouraged if the price one day is especially low. It could easily skyrocket later in the week.

It’s worth noting that you can sell turnips at your friends’ islands just the same as you can at your own. If you are dead set on making big bells with your investment, be sure to check the prices on their islands through the week as well.

The key to making money selling turnips is to hedge your bets on whether you think you’re going to get a better price later in the week than today, and to try to make a hefty profit off your initial investment.

If you haven’t found a reasonable price by Saturday, you’ll have to take what you can get selling them at your or your friends’ island. Otherwise your initial investment has gone to waste.

Predicting Turnip Prices via Calculators

There is no 100% accurate way to predict what your turnip prices are going to do throughout the week, but the New Horizons community has come up with a few tools to give you a better idea over what your turnip prices are going to do throughout the week.

The first turnip calculator to note is the one on NookNet, which is very cute and gives you a platform to track your turnip prices easily.

This other calculator on Github displays charts of potential turnip price curves and the percentages other players have recorded them happening.

It’s up to personal preference which tool you decide to use.

How to Store Your Turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Storing your turnips is easier than finding a good price on them, luckily.

My preferred method is to just drop them on the floor of my house. You can’t put them in storage, but they can just sit there all week while you wait for a good sale price.

You are able to drop them pretty much anywhere on your island safely, and they will not go bad. You could drop them in a corner, you could leave them strewn about the plaza — heck, you can bury them in a hole until you’re ready to sell them.

The only way to not store your turnips is in your stomach. Don’t eat your turnips. There’s no reason to, and you’re not going to get them back. Just sell them like a normal person.

That’s it for our guide on buying, selling, and storing turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Have you made it big on the turnip market yet? I’m still waiting for my time to shine.
