Andi Dorfman and Tyler Cameron, stars of The Bachelorette, ran the 2019 New York City Marathon on November 3 after months of training. Despite rumors that circulated earlier this fall, the two franchise alumni are not dating, but have become friends in preparation for their 42km run. The race was Dorfman’s first marathon and Cameron’s second.

Dorfman, lead of The Bachelorette season 10, registered and began training for the NYC Marathon in June after running casually for a number of years for exercise. She brought Olympic distance runner Roberto Mandje on as her trainer who put together different workouts and run schedules that would help set her up for success. Cameron, fresh off Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, a second split from model Gigi Hadid, and a move to NYC, began running to motivate his family to be healthier after his dad became terminally ill. He ran the marathon on behalf of United Airline’s charity Miles4Migrants.

Dorfman posted a photo of herself on Instagram the day before the big run with the caption, “I’ve done everything I can to prepare myself, I’ve pushed my body beyond what I thought was possible…” Upon completion, she shared an Instagram story thanking Mandje, saying “you turned a blank canvas into a marathoner.” She shared Instagram stories post-run showing herself proudly sporting her completion medal as she celebrated with friends and family.

During Dorfman’s training, she began posting weekly fitness challenges to her followers using the hashtag “Andorfins,” which now has over 500 posts on Instagram. Fellow Bachelor season 18 alum, Kelly Travis Hamm, praised her best friend in an Instagram comment for having “influenced so many to do something good for themselves vs just shilling worthless products,” a jab at many of their Bachelor co-stars who have made careers for themselves with sponsored content posts on social media. Dorfman thanked her fanbase on Instagram, saying, “I owe it all to the #andorfins who keep me motivated, grateful, and most of all inspired. I don’t know how it’ll turn out but I hope I can make y’all half as proud as you’ve made me!”

Dorfman made a name for herself when she sent herself home on season 18 of The Bachelor after confronting the lead, Juan Pablo, for making no effort to get to know her personally. She then went on to become the lead of The Bachelorette season 10 where she got engaged to Josh Murray, resulting in a messy breakup. Since moving to New York, Dorfman, 32, has been taking life head-on, and the NYC Marathon is just another item on her ongoing list of major accomplishments. Dorfman is a two-time bestselling author and former attorney, and while she’s no stranger to the occasional sponsored social media post, she’s made it clear she’s after a more meaningful career.

The New York City Marathon is a nearly 50 year old race and is the largest marathon in the world from a participation standpoint. Cameron ran the Chicago Marathon in October of this year and has plans to run more. “It’s crazy what you can do if you just put in the work. It’s about showing up and doing it,” said Cameron, 26. While Dorfman has yet to say if she’ll be pursuing any future races, she does get bragging rights for finishing the marathon ahead of Cameron. Dorfman finished the 42k run in 3:56:17, almost a full hour ahead of Cameron at 4:39:54, a time the model attributes to cramps from under-training.
